Jost Van Dyke's Foxy's

Jost Van Dyke is one of the most beautiful spots on Earth.  A crown jewel in the British Virgin Island, Jost Van Dyke is a four-mile long island known for its breathtaking beaches and calm, casual way of life.  But the island paradise wouldn't be nearly as idyllic without Foxy's Beach Bar & Restaurant.

Back in 1966, Foxy Callwood, a jovial island resident with a charming grin, felt Jost Van Dyke could use a watering hole in order to properly celebrate the British Virgin Islands' harvest festivities.  Sensing an opportunity, Foxy laid a cement slab and built a humble beach bar near the Methodist Church in Great Harbour.  The bar was no bigger than a lemonade stand, and it was only intended to be open for one day, but it proved so successful, Foxy set up a permanent establishment a little farther down the beach.  Today, some 40 years later, Foxy still owns and operates the bar that bears his name, even entertaining guests with his talents on the guitar.  Through Foxy's passionate love of a good time, the bar has turned into an enormous cultural phenomenon.

It's impossible to think of Jost Van Dyke without Foxy's.  It's become an essential part of the island's culture, serving up authentic local cuisine like roti and flying fish sandwiches, as well as offering weekly barbecues and fresh grilled fish.  Foxy's is also famous for hosting an extraordinary New Year's Eve party each year, not to mention a renowned Halloween bash and an annual Wooden Boat Regatta.
