Saint Thomas

Recently, Saint Thomas Island has become something of a posh tourist destination. While this island was largely undiscovered a few years ago (by tourists, at least) it is now one of the top spots for winter vacationers. Of course, it’s hard to blame those that head to Saint Thomas – from the tall mountain peaks to the pristine waters, it’s difficult not to want to spend your months sunning the days away.

There are many things to do on St. Thomas that will please any island vacationer. You can climb up to the mountain peaks and sit where Sir Francis Drake once sat in order to view his ships, or you can simply lay in a hammock all day long and listen to the sound of the surf. If you feel like exploring the island, some points of interest include the many art galleries; Blackbeard’s Castle; Bluebeard’s Castle; Crown House; and the Estate of St. Peter Greathouse (including lush Botanical gardens). As with most popular islands, there are many different places to stay on Saint Thomas. You can choose to stay within a resort, or you may prefer to rent a bungalow on the beach for a week – either way, you are sure to love every moment of your trip.

As far as great restaurants go, Saint Thomas has them all. If it’s American cuisine that you crave, head to some of the popular chains that have made Saint Thomas home. If you want to try some island flavor, make sure to stop at those smaller shops along the way. Whatever you do, don’t forget to bring home some of the fine crafts that Saint Thomas is famous for. Forget about the cold snow this coming winter and head to Saint Thomas instead.
